Frost & Sullivan Honors Cardiocom with its 2008
Patient Monitoring
Product Innovation of the Year Award
Palo Alto, Calif. — In recognition
of its superior product and service leadership in the remote
patient telemonitoring market, Frost & Sullivan presents
Cardiocom Multi-Disease Management with the "2008 North American
Patient Monitoring Product Innovation of the Year Award".
"The reason for Cardiocom's success in the emerging home telemonitoring
market is clear – quality products and services," says
Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Zachary Bujnoch. "Many
health agencies and hospitals feel that their older systems
have not lived up to expectations, and as buyers begin to exercise
more choices in their remote patient monitoring purchasing decisions,
cutting-edge systems such as Cardiocom look better by comparison."
The way Cardiocom has positioned itself plays a critical part
in differentiating it from competitors. Most companies in the
home health monitoring and disease management markets reach
outside of their core expertise for many of their needs, ranging
from the acquisition of new technology to the full outsourcing
of manufacturing devices and other major components. Cardiocom
strives for the exact opposite.
Cardiocom's founders have leveraged their strong experience
in medical device manufacturing to create a home monitoring
company that designs, manufactures, and supports all of its
products internally.
To achieve this, Cardiocom has its own in-house research and
development team and manufacturing operations, along with a
full call-center staffed by registered nurses. This initiative
for vertical integration by Cardiocom has truly set this company
apart from its competitors and has been key to its success.
Cardiocom's solutions are more than just biometric monitoring
devices. The products and services operate as an integrated
system for specific disease states. By incorporating state-of-the-art
monitoring technology with targeted, personalized care management
services and advanced rule-based software, Cardiocom offers
its clients maximum patient management.
Many of Cardiocom's systems directly address a specific disease
state, but more customizable monitoring options are also available
for specific conditions. The two largest disease management
services offered by Cardiocom are focused on cardiac conditions
and diabetes, respectively. Other diseases that have dedicated
systems include hypertension, end-stage renal failure, high-risk
obesity, COPD, asthma, and obesity management.
Although the systems themselves are the true innovative "products"
that this Frost & Sullivan Award addresses, it is worth
noting that "many of the actual monitoring devices embedded
in these systems were designed and developed by Cardiocom in-house."
notes Zachary Bujnoch. In addition, many components are patented
for use only in Cardiocom's systems, such as clinical branching
logic and two-way patient messaging systems.
While other home telemonitoring and disease management companies
were struggling to stay profitable or just stay in business,
Cardiocom has maintained profitability for the past six years
and is expected to continue on that path in the years to come.
In recognition of these achievements, Frost & Sullivan is
proud to present Cardiocom with the 2008 Patient Monitoring
Product Innovation of the Year Award.
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this Award to the company
that has demonstrated the ability to develop and/or advance
products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors
and products. The Award recognizes the company's successful
adoption of new or existing technology that has become a part
of its well-designed product family. Such innovation is expected
to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product
performance and degree/rate of technical change.
Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Awards recognize companies
in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating
outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such
as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and
strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market
participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews,
analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify
best practices in the industry.
